Expressions of interest are invited from creative designers, artists and photographers aged 16 to 24 years, for a 2-dimentional public art commission for Elevate Wokingham.
Wokingham Borough Council is seeking to commission artwork(s) to display in Elevate Wokingham careers and employment hub at Wokingham Library. Last year’s winner Bridie Gibbs created a beautiful piece of artwork that is currently on exhibit in the Elevate gallery.
Wokingham Borough Council’s executive member for children’s services Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor said: “This is a golden opportunity for any young person, aged between 16 and 24, who is interested in developing a career in the creative sector.
"Whatever your background or previous experience, we urge you to have a go at the project. You will be able to develop your artistic skills, as well as your organisational and communication skills; both of which are important in any profession."
The successful artist will get support from industry experts and up to £500 to spend on design costs and materials. This project has been designed to support young people with aspirations of working within the creative industries; to give them the experience of working alongside established artists and arts specialists in a professional gallery setting, as well as giving their work local and regional exposure.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 2 November. Applicants should visit the Elevate Wokingham page or call into Elevate Wokingham at Wokingham Library for an application form.
