Council hosts North Wokingham Distributor Road exhibition ahead of latest planning application

06 June 2018
Road opening

Wokingham Borough Council is hosting an exhibition about the North Wokingham Distributor Road (NWDR). The event will be specifically dedicated to providing information on the West of Old Forest Road and Toutley Road section as the council plans to submit its planning application for this part of the road later this year (winter 2018).

The exhibition, which is open to anybody to attend, is being held at Cantley House Hotel, Milton Road, Wokingham, on Tuesday 12 June between 9am and 1pm, Wednesday 13 June  between 2pm and 8pm and Saturday 16 June between 9am and 1pm.

The NWDR, which is being designed to serve the new 1,900 homes in the North Wokingham Strategic Development Location, will run from the London Road, near the Coppid Beech roundabout, to the Reading Road, near the M4 over bridge, providing access to these new homes and facilities.

Cllr Keith Baker, executive member for transport and highways said: “This exhibition, which will be run over three dates, is a great opportunity for residents and local business owners to find out more about this important section of the North Wokingham Distributor Road.

“The exhibition will be hosted before the planning application for this section of the NWDR is submitted and, although not a consultation, we will welcome comments and observations through our online feedback questionnaire. Paper copies will also be available at the exhibition. All feedback will then be summarised in the Statement of Community Engagement document and submitted as part of the planning application.”

Formal feedback in regards to the planning application can be officially logged during the four-week period after the application is submitted and will be taken into consideration.

Further details of how to submit formal feedback will be available at the exhibition and will also be posted on the council’s planning section of their website once the application has been submitted in the autumn.

Copies of the display boards, leaflet, feedback form and FAQs will also be available on the council’s website www.wokingham.gov.uk and search for ‘North Wokingham Distributor Road’ from 12 June.
