Wokingham Borough Council is reviewing the way it runs its Strategic Development Location community forums, which were set up four years ago to keep residents informed and involved with the major strategic developments taking place in the Wokingham Borough.
The community forums have been held approximately four times a year for the past four years to provide an opportunity for residents to find out about the four Strategic Development Locations (SDLs) in Arborfield, South Wokingham, North Wokingham and Shinfield area. The borough council is now reviewing how they work and is calling for residents to comment on them.
Executive member for planning and regeneration Cllr Mark Ashwell said: “We’re committed to continued engagement with residents as the new communities in the borough grow and we think it is time to look at the community forums to see how they can be developed.
“We have been extremely grateful to the hundreds of people who have attended the forums and can assure them that engagement will continue – this is about improving and building on what has been done already.”
In order to provide better information to residents about the SDLs, the council has launched an electronic newsletter that will provide regular updates and information. Anybody wanting to sign up to receive this can email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The council’s SDL website pages have also been improved to provide more accurate and up-to-date information.
