“We understand our residents frustrations and we sincerely apologise for the unexpected and unavoidable delay in completing these works at Ryhill Way bus lay-by. We want to assure our residents that, although our contractors are not currently on site, the completion of these works are still a top priority and we are working to get all issues that are preventing us from doing so resolved.
"To give you a brief overview of what is causing these delays, a standard design, which has been implemented elsewhere across the Borough, was used as part of the construction and no unusual issues were identified at the time. However, undulations on the surface were brought to our attention and deeper excavation took place which identified unexpected and unusual ground conditions.
"Our contractor has undertaken ground testing of the exposed problem area and we are awaiting lab results. Unfortunately this can take 3-4 weeks and therefore the information will not be available until late April. Once the ground conditions lab result have been received our contractors will provide a redesign, which will be fast tracked, and construction will take place as soon as possible.
"We thank you for your patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused by this delay. Our residents’ safety is of paramount importance to us and with this in mind we hope that you understand that these delays, which we recognise have been significant, are to ensure that the safety of the all eventual users of the lay-by is not compromised in any way.
"We hope to have this situation resolved as soon as possible and we sincerely thank you for your forbearance."
