The major improvement project at California Country Park is on track with new spaces open in the car park.
The lower car park is now open with 80 spaces, the first of a series of improvements coming to the park. After the Easter holidays, work will begin on an all-weather car park near the café.
As well as the changes to the car park, the first phase of the project will include a series of pergolas, which will provide an all-weather outdoor covered café area, and a new road for better access. The park, including the café, will remain open during construction.
Wokingham Borough Council lead specialist community, heritage & green infrastructure Andy Glencross said: “Completing the improved car parking is an important milestone for the California Country Park project. This first phase is about getting the infrastructure right for the exciting improvements to come at the park. I am glad the disruption has been kept to a minimum and would like to thank visitors for their patience.”
The council will consult the public about later improvement phases, which could include improve play equipment, more seating and information boards, although no decisions have been taken yet.
