Wokingham Borough Council is updating its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) and wants to hear your views.

The SCI outlines the level of community involvement that will take place. It sets out clear procedures and standards that the council should follow when engaging with residents and businesses.

The council is updating its SCI following changes to national planning policy and guidance since it was adopted back in 2014.

Cllr Stuart Munro, executive member for economic development and strategic planning, said: “The update to the SCI is a key part of our wider strategy to increase residents’ involvement in planning. The new SCI incorporates changes to statutory regulations and makes clearer how we will engage with our residents, businesses, and interested parties at various stages of producing planning policy documents and determining planning applications. Your comments are important to us and will be used to shape the final document so please get involved.”

Residents can submit their views on the SCI until Friday December 21 by going to www.wokingham.gov.uk and searching “consultations”. Hard copies will be available at Civic Offices, Shute End.

Alternatively, residents can write to the Council with comments. Please return completed response form or comments by emailing:policyandplans@wokingham.gov.uk or posting to: Growth & Delivery Team, Wokingham Borough Council, Civic Offices, Shute End, Wokingham, RG40 1WR.

The existing SCI can be viewed by going to www.wokingham.gov.uk and searching “local plan and planning policies”.
