Overnight surveys are due to start in Wokingham Market Place on 7 September, as part of a project to rejuvenate this part of the town centre next year.
The topographical surveys will take approximately two weeks to complete and will only happen between 8pm and 6am on Peach Street, Denmark Street and across Market Place.
Traffic control measures will include a mixture of road, footpath and lane closures depending on the area being surveyed that night. There will be no digging.
Restaurants etc will be open as normal in the evenings.
Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times, however there may be short periods (5-10mins) when this is not possible if the survey is mapping that specific area.
The town council project seeks to improve the Market Place to reduce the prominence of traffic in favour of pedestrians, and to enhance its overall look. The results from the topographical surveys will help direct this work.
These plans are separate to Wokingham Borough Council’s major town centre regeneration.
