Parents in the Shinfield area can apply for a place at a state-of-the-art new primary school for next September.
The school has been built as part of the Shinfield West development and is ready to open if there is enough demand. Parents can apply for a place at it in the same way they would any established school. The council is currently seeking a new Trust to run the school. There will be a further announcement once the Department for Education (DFE) has agreed the successful Trust. Final offers of places at the school will be confirmed once the DfE has signed the funding agreement for the school with the Trust.
Ready to open if enough demand
The school has been built as part of the Shinfield West development and is ready to open if there is enough demand. Parents can apply for a place at it in the same way they would any established school.
Cllr Pauline Helliar-Symons, executive member for children’s services said: “It is great for us to have another primary school ready to open and for parents in and around Shinfield to have another option. There are great primaries in the area already of course, but we would urge parents to consider this newly built school alongside the established options. I have had a look around the building and it is ready to become a wonderful new school.”
Parents can apply for the new Shinfield West School and other local schools without fear of losing out elsewhere because preferences expressed for the proposed new school will not impact on the application to existing schools (other than by using one of the four preferences).
Applications to start school in September 2019 can be made until January 15 and full information is available on the council’s website and search for ‘schools admissions’. Parents can also email: firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about the school.
