Dinton Pastures Country Park welcomed 40 SUPathletes to its duathlon with a difference on Sunday 14 July. Barnes Fitness organised the SUPathlon, which mixes running and stand-up paddleboarding together, in what is thought to be the first of its kind in England.
Race organiser, Ellie Barnes of Barnes Fitness, said: “It was fantastic to welcome 40 SUPathletes to our event at Dinton Pastures County Park. I am overjoyed to have brought this SUPathlon to life, especially as it’s thought to be the first of its kind in England. I look forward to our next event at Dinton Pastures, on 8 August, in which we welcome runners to join the Summer Series. This event is now in its eight consecutive year and people can choose to run either 5km or 10km.”
Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure, added: “Dinton Pastures was the perfect location for this innovative activity, with its large lake and scenic off-road running route. It was superb to see so many entrants put their best paddle forward in the SUPathlon. I was also delighted to hear so many participants comment on the fun and friendly atmosphere, and excellent facilities on offer.”
Fitness fanatics on the lookout for their next challenge can rejoice as the next Barnes Fitness event is just around the corner. On 8 August, Dinton Pastures will play host to the Summer Series, whereby runners can compete in either a 5km or 10km run on the scenic traffic free run.
