Performers of all ages entertained over 300 people at the annual Taster and Performance evening on 24 November as part of the celebrations for Black History Month in Wokingham Borough.
The event, organised by the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Forum, featured local dancers, drummers, and singers including Bollywood dancers from the Indian community centre, VoxSkool Choir and local Caribbean singer, Julia Titus.
There was a performance of the Calypso Song about the Windrush Generation, a subject highlighted in this year’s Black History Month.
As with previous years, Asian and Caribbean food was served to showcase wonderful food from a wide variety of difference cultures and cuisines cooked in a healthy and appetising way.
Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr John Kaiser, who opened the event, said: “This is the second time I have attended this event and again it has been a highlight of the year. It is wonderful to see all of the different communities come together to celebrate the diversity we have across the Wokingham Borough.”
