Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Caroline Smith has relaunched the Mayor’s Honour Awards to recognise people who make an outstanding contribution to their community. The applications for nominations are now open.
The Mayor’s Honour Awards is open to adults, children, young people and community groups who work, live, study or provide services in Wokingham Borough. Each winning individual receives a lapel badge and certificate and group recipients will receive a shield and a certificate at a thank you event next year.
Nominate now
Cllr Smith and Deputy Mayor Cllr Beth Rowland will select worthy winners from those nominated by members of the public and announce them at full council meetings, which are usually held five times a year.
The deadline for nominating an individual or organisation is the first of the month. The next deadlines are 1 November, 1 December, 1 January and 1 February.
Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Caroline Smith said: “We want to recognise and thank the fantastic people who make our communities a great place to live, learn, work and grow. If you know someone or an organisation who has gone above and beyond, nominate them today. Examples of nominated people can include fosterers, volunteers, carers, teachers and employees. For children and young people, we would like to hear about individuals who have overcome a difficult situation or have outstanding achievements such as in sport or arts. I look forward to receiving the nominations and learning more about the amazing people that make Wokingham Borough thrive.”
Nomination process
To nominate an individual or group, email the Mayor’s office at mayoralsupport@wokingham.gov.uk by the first of the month. Nominations should be no longer than 200 words and should set out why the nominee should be considered for the award.
