Wokingham Borough Council’s partner, Places Leisure has announced the launch of Mums’ Zone, the new holistic health and wellbeing initiative for mums and their babies.
The programme is designed to support mothers in their perinatal period, with a focus on mental health. Mums’ Zone sessions will be hosted at St Crispin’s Leisure Centre and Rainbow Park Children’s Centre and will start in September.
Mums will be able to take part in yoga and breathing activities, talk to professionals about day-to-day issues and how to balance parenting with time for self-care. The sessions will be complimented by refreshments and snacks.
“This is such a fantastic opportunity for mothers. Being a new mother can be a challenging time for women. We know that physical activity can have a positive impact on both physical and mental health. This programme offers mums a chance to learn yoga and socialise with other mothers in a relaxing atmosphere.” said Cllr Ullakarin Clark, executive member for children’s services at Wokingham Borough Council.
Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure, Wokingham Borough Council said: “Mum’s Zone is a great example of how our local leisure service providers are working with external partners to develop and run services to meet the needs of our new mums within our local communities. “
The programme will be supported by a cohort of Mums’ Zone volunteers. To book, please contact Get Berkshire Active on 01628 472 851 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
