NEW FLOODLIT 3G FOOTBALL PITCH OPENS IN ARBORFIELD

NEW FLOODLIT 3G FOOTBALL PITCH OPENS IN ARBORFIELD

02 October 2017

Footballers across the borough can now enjoy refining their skills at a brand new 3G football pitch in Arborfield.

The high quality surfaces will be used by The Bohunt School for PE lessons, after-school activities, and matches during the day. The site will also be open to the community during evenings and weekends.

The facility was officially opened by former England international, Darren Anderton alongside Wokingham Borough Mayor, Cllr Rob Stanton, and Cllr Norman Jorgensen, executive member for environment sports, environmental health, leisure and libraries.

They were joined by young footballers from local clubs Pinewood and Finchampstead, who enjoyed a training session and a friendly game on the pitch.

The new site also hosts two new floodlit netball courts and three floodlit tennis courts, available for clubs and individuals to hire.

The site is managed by Wokingham Borough Council’s sports and leisure team, and discounts are available for local charter standard clubs to book the pitch for weekly training sessions. The pitch incorporates all recommended pitch markings for 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11 formats of the game, so that it can also be used for weekend football matches.

Cllr Norman Jorgensen, said: "We continue to work closely with our partners upgrading and improving sporting facilities across the borough. This new 3G pitch demonstrates our commitment to empower people to be more active, more often.”
