On Saturday 14 December a record number of participants gathered for the annual Dinton Santa Dash. The event sold out weeks in advance with 650 Santa’s signing-up for the festive run around Dinton Pastures County Park, in Hurst.

The event kicked off with the 2km Mini-Dash at 10.30am, where little ones were invited to complete a one course loop, taking in sights of both White Swan and Black Swan Lake. This was followed by the full 5km Santa Dash at 11am. Entrants pulled out all the stops to spread Christmas cheer, accessorising their Santa outfits, with Christmas leggings, bells and even lights!

The team from Nuffield Health Wokingham were also on hand to lead a fun and interactive warm-up beforehand and runners were treated to a free mince pie from Waitrose Wokingham upon completing the route.

“We want to thank everyone who came down to Saturday’s Dinton Santa Dash. This year marked our third event and we are over the moon with this year’s turnout, with the event selling out weeks in advance,” said race organiser, Ellie Barnes of Barnes Fitness.

“We’re proud to have raised £2,100 for local charity, Daisy’s Dream which supports children and their families who have been affected by the life threatening illness or bereavement of someone close to them.”

Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure added: “We’re thrilled to have hosted the annual Dinton Santa Dash at Dinton Pastures Country Park. This event is much loved by local residents and it’s great to see funds raised for a fantastic local charity like Daisy’s Dream.”
