Elms Field is the only place to be this weekend, with preparations well underway for the grand opening of This Little Piggy, a popular independent childrenswear boutique. Doors will open at 9.30am on Saturday 14 March, where mini-fashionistas are invited to view the latest trends straight off the catwalk.
The boutique shop is already a firm favourite with locals, having previously been based in Holme Grange Village. Customers will be spoilt for choice, as the owners have been hard at work filling the rails with the freshest looks ready for spring. In celebration of the store launch there will be some fantastic one-off discounts available on the day, along with the usual loyalty discounts on offer to regular clients.
Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor, executive member for regeneration, said: “We had lots of residents tell us the town centre was crying out for a children’s clothes shop, so it’s a joy to welcome This Little Piggy right to our doorstep in Elms Field.”
“The new park and play area continue to be a real hit with local families and with new shops like This Little Piggy and Pirates Landing soft play centre opening up right next door, it’s only going to get better.”
Kirsty Herbert and Maxine Bradbury, owners of the This Little Piggy boutique, said: “We’ve been best friends for years and started This Little Piggy in 2016. As an independent business it was tough starting out but we’ve overcome all the obstacles thrown at us throughout our time and the business has grown from strength to strength.
“A big part of our success is that we pride ourselves on the individual touch and love talking to our customers to really understand what they want and need. All the stock in This Little Piggy is carefully handpicked from across Europe as we wanted to make sure we could offer a great range of gorgeous items to suit everyone from new born babies to 12 year olds. Whether you are buying a one off gift for a grandchild’s birthday or simply looking to update your children’s wardrobe we’re sure we will be able to help.”
“Since announcing our move to Elms Field we’ve been busy getting in lots of new stock, including popular brands like Mayoral & Magnolia, and are really looking forward to sharing it with you when we open this weekend. And, to celebrate our launch day on Saturday, in addition to our usual great loyalty discounts, we’re going to have some fantastic one-off discounts available on the day as well.”
Local residents will also be able to enjoy a new pedestrian route through from the library roundabout on Denmark Street to the shops and park, with fencing removed ahead of the shop opening. In addition, the final touches are also being made to the greenspace next to Everyman Cinema.
Further spring openings are expected as work continues to quickly progress behind the scenes at Elms Field.
Wokingham’s Regeneration schemes have also been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Excellence in planning for a successful economy award in recognition of the work being done to improve Wokingham’s town centre.
