Young people and their parents are invited to find out more about careers, apprenticeships, university and college on Wednesday 5 October at this year's Wokingham Schools Careers Fair. This year the fair is being held at Waingels College and is funded by Wokingham Borough Council and the Wokingham Secondary Federation schools with sponsorship from Bellway Homes and from 3M.
Businesses from a wide range of sectors will be attending, including Microsoft, Rockwell Collins, Johnson & Johnson, Thames Valley Police, the NHS and many more. There will also be talks from the University of Reading as well as Frontier who are a gap year organisation.
Information on apprenticeships, internships, and work experience will be provided by Elevate Wokingham as well as other careers organisations such as Adviza, AIM Apprenticeships, and JTL who specialise in electrical and maintenance apprenticeships.
Cllr Charlotte Haitham Taylor, executive member for children's services, said: "The Wokingham Borough careers fair is a great opportunity for young people to learn about further education opportunities as well as many different career paths.
"With a wide range of local and national employers in attendance, young people thinking about their future can speak to experienced and knowledgeable professionals. The fair is also a chance for businesses to meet potential candidates and convey what working for their company is like."
There is no need to book – just turn up on the day between 4pm and 7pm (last entry at 6.30pm). For more information visit the Elevate Wokingham Facebook page.
