We hope to take over parking enforcement from the police, across the Wokingham Borough, from May 2017.
We are applying to the Department for Transport to do this, and will be consulting with the public, emergency services, parish and neighbouring councils and other statutory bodies, as part of our application.
If we get permission to take it over, we will be able to legally enforce parking breaches such as on double yellow lines, double parking or parking across dropped kerbs, parking in residents’ parking zones without a permit, and overstaying time-limited bays.
We would also be able to tackle cars obstructing verges and pavements where they are parked next to yellow lines.
